UK: Open up your farm, glasshouse or field for Open Farm Sunday

There is still time for farmers and growers to sign up to the tenth Open Farm Sunday (OFS) and throw open their gates, glasshouses and fields to the public on Sunday 7 June.

Organisers, LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), are urging farmers to help ensure this year’s campaign is the most successful one yet aiming to help the public appreciate the work and passion that our farmers put into producing food. Research shows that the public really appreciate meeting farmers and seeing for themselves what happens on a farm.

Annabel Shackleton, Open Farm Sunday manager said, “Open Farm Sunday is a fantastic opportunity to tell your story and to celebrate all that is great about British farming.”

To help farmers plan their event the organisers have collaborated with a number of organisations to provide a range of resources. HDC has produced a new item for farmers and growers this year in the shape of a ‘Harvested in Britain’ booklet and levy payers can order copies for their event directly from HDC at hdc@ahdb.org.uk or by calling Victoria Routledge on 024 76478895.
