Buy Local! Buy Fresh!

Map showcases food producers in Chatham-Kent

The Buy Local! Buy Fresh! map is a great community initiative between the Kent Federation of Agriculture, the Chatham-Kent Food Policy Council, Uher’s Performance Feeds, Scotiabank, and the Municipality of Chatham-Kent Economic Development Services. It is a tool for consumers to source local food and find out when various products are available in their area.

This map lists the various producers, what they have to offer, where they are located, when they are open, as well as contact information. This is the fourth edition of the Buy Local! Buy Fresh! map, which began eight years ago with 11 vendors.

The map of Chatham-Kent products features dozens of various fruits and vegetables; many varieties of plants, flowers, and trees; all kinds of meat and fish; agri-tourism; eggs; maple syrup; wine; and much more.

The map can be downloaded from this website: www.buylocalbuyfreshchathamkent.com.

A few of the local food products that are on the map which will soon be available, include asparagus and rhubarb. There are always many other local food products on the market all year round, such as meat and poultry products, eggs, various fruits and vegetables.

Agriculture in Chatham-Kent is over a $3-billion sector.
