China: 5 hectare greenhouse project in Daxing taking shape

In Daxing, China, the 5 hectare greenhouse project of Dutchman Geert Leffers is taking shape. Leffers is building a greenhouse project consisting of 5 hectares in Daxing China. The project plans to grow to 60 hectares, and Geert is building it by himself with the help of locals. In most cases, greenhouse builders are using experienced supervisors or staff, but in this case Leffers works with a team of strictly locals. He is not being hindered by language barriers and frequent financial disruptions.

The boilers for the greenhouse heating arrived last week.

The view from on top of the greenhouse; the entire structure is equipped with insect netting to keep good bugs inside and bad bugs outside.

Geert told us that he expects to install the gutter systems in the coming months. "If we are not experiencing severe delays or problems, we expect to plant the first crops in August 2015."

We will keep you posted.
