South African prize for concept ‘Bodem Resetten’

The Dutch company, Thatchtec has won an innovation award at the South African exhibition Undercover Farming Expo for its soil treatment concept ‘Bodem Resetten’ (Soil Reset). The event was held last month in Pretoria, and Thatchtec took home first prize. "The jury considered the innovative sustainable and accessible, even for the small African grower," says Henk Meints.

Bacteria
With ‘Bodem Resetten’, the bacteria present in the soil is fed. Through organic soil conditioners, diseases are fought. "Bodem Resetten offers an alternative to chemical treatment and the use of methyl bromide, which was recently banned," explains Meints.
