Dutch horticultural companies at International Exhibition in Kazakhstan

Three leading Dutch organizations with a vested interest in horticulture will be showcasing their innovations at the International Horticultural Exhibition in the Central Asian city of Almaty in Kazakhstan from 23 to 25 April. This is the 7th year the international exhibition is being held in Almaty, a city that was a bustling trade centre on the Silk Route during the Middle Ages.

The theme of the exhibition is ‘greenhouses, vegetable growing, storage and irrigation’ – something Koppert Biological Systems, DLV Plant-GreenQ grower support services, and automation solutions expert, Hoogendoorn Growth Management, know a good deal about. They will be present to share their knowledge of the Dutch agricultural and horticultural sectors with visitors of the exhibition. All three organizations promote sustainable and user-friendly horticultural solutions. They work closely with their customers and invest extensively in research and development.

According to the Kazakhstan Greenhouse Association, the republic, which is larger than Western Europe, is currently only able to provide 20% of the vegetables sold at its markets and supermarkets and needs to import the shortfall from China and Uzbekistan. It says the country needs 87 tons of tomatoes and cucumbers in the offseason (November to June), but can only supply 20 thousands tons per year. (source:http://www.greenhouses.kz/eng/news64.php)

Koppert Biological Solutions will be present to introduce its sustainable biological solutions as a viable alternative to chemical crop protection and artificial fertilizers to the Central Asian market. The market leader will share its knowledge on biological pest control and also introduce its pollination portfolio to local growers and agricultural organizations. The focus will be on flower cultivation.

International automation solution expert , Hoogendoorn Growth Management, sees Kazakhstan as an ideal platform to introduce its latest innovations in horticultural automation in terms of climate control, sustainable use of irrigation and energy, data-management and food safety. Hoogendoorn’s user-friendly and adaptable technology is supported by a 24/7 helpdesk and highly-trained local experts. Participating at the trade show enables Hoogendoorn to recognize specific customers’ demands in Kazakhstan, which is important to their innovations that are based on demand-driven development.

Leading advisory and research partner in this field, DLV Plant-GreenQ, will be at the exhibition to support local growers and help them to develop new horticultural projects. DLV Plant provides professional growers for training on a temporary basis and gives advice on site as well as through remote control. Its mission is to make projects (financially) feasible. Its advisors provide active support in sourcing and identifying financing and subsidies for projects and sets up co-operations with partners.
