FloraHolland launches the Customer Platform

If we want to get the sector flourishing again, then we shall have to work together better and put the customer first. The Customer Platform will be involved in elaborating and implementing the FloraHolland 2020 vision.

FloraHolland 2020 is producing a number of strategic/tactical plans and programmes which are important for the entire chain. Within the cooperative FloraHolland talks to members-suppliers in the Flowers and Plants Advisory Committees. But there was not a similar consultation structure for customers. This is now being set up.



The Customer Platform has an advisory function and will discuss relevant strategic/tactical themes with the FloraHolland board and management four times a year. There will also be an open exchange of information. The Customer Platform is being launched this spring ad will be chaired by the General Director, Lucas Vos.
The Platform will consist of about 20 customers, owners or directors of companies from all customer segments; it should provide a good reflection of the customer pool.

Concern commerce manager, Servaas van der Ven, considers the introduction of the Customer Platform as a great benefit. "In the last few years there has been a lot of quibbling between FloraHolland and its customers. Luckily, some contacts remained. The Customer Platform provides a possibility for structural consultation, where we can discuss strategic/tactical matters and exchange information about the market. So we can work together to get more consumers buying more flowers and plants." For topics about implementation, the current operational consultations with Commerce and Logistics will continue as before.

"There is a lot involved with FloraHolland 2020," stresses Lucas Vos. "We in the chain need each other to come to good decisions and a successful policy. In my opinion, the Customer Platform is the place to really do business with the customer in terms of strategy and tactics. In the past few months I have noticed that many customers are very positive about our aims as expressed in FloraHolland 2020. We want to work with them on the implementation of our plans, so they become plans for the entire chain."
