BrightBox: the most complete commercial research facility for growing without daylight

Yesterday the official opening took place of BrightBox; a state of the art research facility for closed controlled environment food production without daylight. The facility at the Innovatoren in Venlo, The Netherlands, is the first European project that will research multi layer cultivation without daylight in a commercial setting.

But what is so different to this farm compared to the hundreds of other farms that have passed the revue over the last few years? According to BrightBox, the facility allows to research the entire cultivation and commercial application instead of just focusing on light, irrigation or automation. The BrightBox has a total of three cells; there are two cells to research and one cell that will act as a commercial setting that can be scaled up.
