Spain: Orange Candy melon by Seminis

At Fruit Logistica, an exceptional partnership for the innovation of the melon sector was presented to Monsanto, owner of the Seminis and De Ruiter brands, Monsanto's Vice President Global Vegetable Lead Kenneth M. Avery and the representatives of the main Spanish companies and cooperatives (Bollo, Anecoop and Unica Group).

Seminis has signed a deal for the cultivation and sale of a new yellow skinned, orange fleshed melon called "Orange Candy". The variety is compact, has a high sugar content and is delicious.

The Orange Candy variety is a yellow Canary with 1.2 kg grades and is naturally sweet and aromatic. "Consumers appreciate it a lot," explained Monsanto managers.

Partners include Bollo International Fruits from Valencia, Anecoop from Valencia and Unica Group from Almeria.

After the presentation, we had the chance to taste some samples harvested in Brazil - consistency and taste were indeed very good!
