Fewer hours of venting
In "The New Cultivation", saving energy is one of the most important aspects. Attention is given to more hours of closed screen and fewer hours of venting. A vent in the screen to dehumidify the nursery causes large differences in the greenhouse climate. These differences do little for the growth and the quality of the crop. Also, much heat is lost.Air from above the screen
To achieve controlled ventilation, there are already various technical solutions on the market. One way is to blow air from above the screen (cold and dry) into the greenhouse. This gives good results in practice. To do just this, Van der Ende Group came up with a simple new solution, the Airmix.Horizontal fan
Use is made of a horizontal blower, which is widely used in glasshouses for recirculation. On the suction side of the fan, housing is mounted with double valves. These valves make it possible to bring in air from above the screen according to need. "Trials at WUR give very positive results," says Ton van der Kooij of Van der Ende. "How easy it can be? All you need is a fan already widely used in greenhouses.”In trials with smoke, the rapid circulation of air is made visible.
The patented Airmix's engineering will be worked on some more in the coming months and marketed well before the new season.
