On the trade fair floor you can spot 15 to 20 real novelties this year as well. They include the winners of De Glazen Tulp 2015: Alstroemeria Charmelia, Haworthia limifolia Spider White, Skimmia japonica Pabella and the concept No water flowers Amaryllis Wax and Velvet touchz.
In the past two years, more and more concepts have been displayed in the Novelties Square. It is becoming increasingly important for products to stand out on the shopfloor. A fun new concept is 'Paint your plant' from Amigo. This grower is known for the 'glow in the dark' plants. With this concept children can colour the leaves of the plant. Fun for a party!
Unfortunately, unusual is not always marketable. Sometimes the market for that unusual product is just too small. At the trade fair there is plenty of opportunity for growers to talk with current or potential customers about the chances of success for their product. Along with the novelty in concepts, the visitor to the Novelties Square also finds new varieties and extended vase life.
