US (MA): Greenhouse tomato short course set for March 3-4

Greenhouse tomato growers and other interested individuals can learn all aspects of production during the 25th annual Greenhouse Tomato Short Course March 3 and 4 in Raymond.

Experts from the tomato industry, the Mississippi State University Extension Service, the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station, and Auburn University will present the latest production information.

The workshop will be held at the Eagle Ridge Conference Center at 1500 Raymond Lake Road in Raymond.

Topics include marketing, budgeting, research updates, plant nutrition, alternative crops, water sanitation, alternative heating options, and greenhouse design and engineering. A pest management workshop will include information on physiological disorders, plant diagnosis, pest management and disease identification and control.

This educational workshop, the longest-running course of its kind in the United States, attracts participants from more than 25 states, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Exhibitors from the U.S. and Canada will display and demonstrate their products.

Advance registration is $175 per person and must be received by Feb. 20. Participants can register online at http://www.msucares.com/crops/ghtsc/registration.html, or they can mail in the printable form found on the registration page. Registration at the door is $200 per person.

Registration covers coffee, refreshments, two lunches, all Extension publications, and promotional items. All those who preregister will receive a Greenhouse Tomato Short Course baseball cap and a tomato-themed coffee mug.
