Dutch cucumber area shrunk by 10%

Kompany back with Dutch cucumbers

Kompany went on the market again on Friday 23 January with Dutch cucumbers from cultivation under light. Like last year the cucumber cooperation represents an area of around 8 hectares of cultivation under light. After two weeks the rest of the Kompany growers will also be in production.

The national cucumber area has shrunk by no less than 10% this year, and there is also a reduction in area for Kompany, due to growers leaving. The commercial director is optimistic about the start of the season. "Spain has had hail this week and it's too cold in Almeria for the cucumber cultivation at the moment. 2015 should be a great year for the growers, who all need it."
