Nemesis F1 winning market share:

South Korean growers fond of new Turkish beef tomato variety

South Korea has a vibrant greenhouse vegetable industry that is developing rapidly and the high tech Korean growers are familiar with modern production technologies. Also the right varieties play a key role. That is why Turkish seed breeder Yuksel Tohum has a breeding program available for the South Korean industry. One of the latest introductions is the Beef Tomato NEMESIS F1. Besides strong yields and disease resistances, the variety performs in a harsh summer climate. It is a variety that can be grown easily by Korean growers, they have achieved great results with it after its introduction in the summer of 2014.

"The breeders and technical personnel at Yuksel Tohum have been focusing on providing cultivars that would meet the perspectives of producers and traders in one of the most conservative markets around the globe", said Yuksel's International Sales Manager Gokhan Cengiz.

South Korea’s tomato industry for the red tomato segment has been expanding its ranges of productions from highland areas throughout the entire provinces of the nation. "Yuksel Tohum is extensively working on its position in South Korea by introducing the Nemesis hybrid to fulfil the market needs. Key aspects of the variety are high yields with good quality under the high pressure of harsh climate conditions and disease outbreaks", Cengiz said.

Cengiz furthermore added that the specialists at Yuksel Tohum focus on well-adapted varieties with superb yields, uniformity and good packages of disease resistances. "These are the characteristics that the Korean growers are looking for."

Besides a large domestic market. South Korea's main export market is Japan. "The excellence of the fruit quality of Nemesis F1 is also satisfying local traders and importers in Japan" Cengiz said.
