Netherlands-African Business Council to organize a Trade Mission to Sudan

The Netherlands-African Business Council organizes a Trade Mission to Sudan from 24 to 27 February 2015. The mission is partly facilitated by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Khartoum and the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan in The Hague, We cordially invite you to join this mission and explore your business opportunities in Sudan!

The mission will focus on agro-food and agro-logistics but is also open to companies active in related industries (such as machinery, water (irrigation); port-development; transportation). NABC and its partners offer you a diverse program including bilateral meetings, company visits, a Sudan Business Seminar, meetings with government bodies (on request) and a networking reception.

As organizers of this mission, we realize that Sudan is a challenging environment for companies, due to its political climate and internal conflicts. But, we also recognize that Sudan offers great opportunities in above-mentioned sectors and is in need of foreign trade and investment to further develop these sectors and, on a more general note, to develop as a country. The mission aims to foster mutually beneficial partnerships between the Dutch and Sudanese private sectors.

The mission will include the following elements:
  • Sector-focused company visits
  • Coordinated bilateral meetings with selected potential business partners (entirely based
  • on your requests and objectives)
  • Possibility to meet with government officials (upon request)
  • Networking reception
  • Doing Business in Sudan seminar with key local stakeholders

Sudan
Sudan is strategically positioned on the coast of the Red Sea, which makes Sudan the center of international markets: the Middle East, Far East, Asia, Europe, and the USA as well as the recipient of ships crossing the Red Sea through the Suez Canal. Moreover, Sudan is tied to its neighboring countries by airlines, roads, sea, and river transport. Besides its geographic position Sudan offers a good potential market for the agrofood sector with its fertile land, a variety of climates and animal resources.

One of factors complicating doing business with and in Sudan are the US-imposed economic sanctions. However, the agricultural sector and related activities (agro-logistics, water etc.) are exempted from these. NABC and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Khartoum are there to provide you further information. You can also refer to the Sudan Information Document for more information.

NABC will work with local partners to organize the program of the mission in Sudan, including but not limited to:
  • The Embassy of the Netherlands in Khartoum
  • The Embassy of Sudan in The Hague
