GreenQ founder Peter Klapwijk starts consultancy with 2Harvest
The agency represents a new career phase for Klapwijk. The entrepreneur is best known as the founder of GreenQ in 2005. In 2013 he sold his shares and in late 2014 he retired as hands-on advisor for the cultivation consultancy. Klapwijk now set up his own consulting firm: 2Harvest. With the new company, Klapwijk means to look further down the chain. The idea is to help companies translate concepts back to cultivation.
"You start with the customer and his needs. What product features do they want? This outline, you translate back to cultivation.” In Canada for example, Klapwijk works with Nature Fresh. "They take care of the marketing of their products. We now look at the year-round cultivation of peppers. One of the issues at hand is: how do you get the right quality and the desired weight?" Marketing is also an important part of the strategy. For this, Klapwijk works with his daughter Marit Nieboer, also active in marketing under the name PuurMart.

Marketing and the creation of proper venues is something that also concerns Dutch growers. "Much remains to be done, but you see more and more companies translating their marketing efforts back to the final product. It's not just about the volumes anymore, that much is clear."
