Reduce temperature and create diffuse light with shading paint

In Mexico as well, growers are familiar with the use of shading paints to optimize the greenhouse climate in the extremely warmer periods. According to Edgar Leyton, great results have been achieved with Sudlac's Eclipse LD and Eclipse F4.

For the past 6 months, Sudlac's advanced shading agents have been available on the Mexican market. And not without success; Mexican partner & distributor Leyton Greenhouse & Supply is looking back at a very busy first season. "Already in the first year we achieved great results with Mexican growers", Edgar Leyton told us at the Expo AgroAlimentaria.

"Mexican growers are looking for a product that is easy to apply", as to Edgar Leyton. "We are working a lot with Eclipse LD, Optifuse and Transpar with the high tech greenhouse growers. On the other hand, Eclipse F4 is also favoured a lot, especially by the low and medium tech growers."

At the larger Mexican growers, the application of Sudlac products is being done with an airplane. Other smaller growers apply it by spraying it manually.

Eclipse F4

Eclipse F4 is a perfect solution to cover glass or plastic film, it regulates light intensity and the humidity conditions for a better climate inside. Mexican growers have to deal with a harsh climate, and Eclipse will reduce the temperature inside the greenhouse and diffuse the remaining light.

According to Edgar Leyton, many Mexican growers are applying Eclipse F4 after the dark winter period. "It is very beneficial to their young plants, they grow better in a shaded environment; the young plants suffer from less stress, which results in stronger starting plants and better yield at the beginning of the season. Leyton said that there are growers who apply it twice in a season; they apply a 2nd layer to increase shading as a response to the increased light intensities during the hot season.

Eclipse F4 is a product that degrades by itself after a certain period. The weather conditions have a big influence on this product; the more it rains, the sooner it will degrade.

Eclipse LD

Edgar Leyton realises that more and more growers are interested in the advanced shading paint Eclipse LD. "Eclipse LD is an on and off product, it can only be removed by the application of the cleaning agent Topclear; After using TopClear, a few rain showers will wash off Eclipse LD. This makes the application of LD a bigger investment, however, especially the high tech growers like this product because they have full control over it. Eclipse LD provides a strong reduction in temperature during the season and the product has a very good weather resistance."

Edgar Leyton of Leyton Greenhouse & Supply and Marcel Schoondergang of Sudlac at the 2014 Expo AgroAlimentaria in Irapuato last month.

According to Edgar Leyton, 40 percent of his customers are using Eclipse F4 and 60 percent uses Eclipse LD. "Thanks to the knowledge of Sudlac's Marcel Schoondergang we learned a lot about the application of the products and how we can get the most out of them. That is the reason why many Mexican growers are contacting us nowadays; they know that we can help them with creating the right shading strategy. They realize that many thing like the time of application is of paramount importance."
