Cravo is pleased to announce that Mentor Chile Ltda. is now representing Cravo's line of retractable roof greenhouses and automated orchard covers in Chile.
The decision to work together was made after the owner of Mentor Ltda., Alexis Henriquez visited Cravo's automated orchard covers at Michigan State University where trials are being performed by Dr Greg Lang on sweet cherries. Once Alexis saw with his own eyes that the trees in the automated orchard cover flowered 15 days earlier and produced 400% more than uncovered trees and 150% more than conventional rain covers he knew that this product is exactly what the major producers in Chile needed to improve their exports.
The fact that the fruit in the automated orchard cover was 6% larger and more firm than those under the traditional rain cover provides even more value to the grower.
So in September, Sergio Montesinos who is the Manager of Sales for Cravo in Europe and Africa spent 10 days in Chile with Alexis visiting major producers to create the financial models based on using the retractable roof production systems that have been developed specifically for cherries, berries and vegetables.
