lease concept Hortilux:

Dutch grower opts for seven years of growing light for a fixed rate

Voort Kwekerij signed a seven-year contract with Dool Industries last week. The terms of this contract allow the grower to use a continuous light output above the crop for a fixed, monthly rate for a period of seven years – a concept from DI Capital. This grants the company room for future investments and enables the operational costs to be managed. The entire growing light installation will be supplied as a turnkey project by Hortilux Schréder and B&W Installaties from Monster. This turnkey growing light project also extends in this concept to cover engineering, insurance, service and maintenance activities. Voort Kwekerij therefore no longer has to devote any attention to the growing light installation, has no concerns in this respect and knows exactly what the installation will cost for the next seven years. This leaves the grower free to concentrate entirely on growing tomatoes.

Total growing light system

Van der Voort grows vine tomatoes on two sites with a total surface area of 175,790 m2. On the site in ’s-Gravenzande some 50,000 m2 will now be lit. The growing light system consists of 4,961 HSE NXT II 1000 watt fixtures with Beta reflectors and is combined with the new asymmetrical reflector, 39,462 metres of cabling and 42 switch panels. The system is flexible enough to allow expansion if the grower wants to increase the area under lighting.

Integrated approach

To facilitate turnkey delivery of the entire growing light system, Hortilux Schréder and B&W Installaties collaborated intensively. Hortilux Schréder is a division of Dool Industries. This holding company includes several businesses that are active in the field of lighting. They were also involved in the concept, each contributing their own specialist knowledge on how to maintain an optimal light output. The grower communicates with just a one contact person and receives one monthly invoice.
