Russian and Chinese investors expand operations to 50 hectares in Georgia

A consortium of investors from Saint-Petersburg and China have been working together on a new greenhouse project in a Georgian village at the premises of LLC Berezeyevo-2.

Started with 60 greenhouses on 20 hectares, the project has now expanded to 204 greenhouses with total area of 50 hectares.

The enlarged capacity of the greenhouse complex has contributed to the growth of production, - said Elena Peshina, deputy head of Chudovsky district. The first year we grew 1800 tonnes of vegetables, but this year 3400 tonnes of cucumbers and tomatoes have already been produced.

According to experts, the coming crops are expected to yield at least 3300 tonnes and fulfil the yearly plan.
