Canada: Free Importer/Distributor's Perspective webinar for agri-food exporters new to Mexican market

The Importer/Distributor’s Perspective webinar takes place August 19, 2014, at 10 a.m. It’s the third of three free webinars put on by Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development (ARD) that are designed for Alberta value-added agri-food exporters new to the Mexican market.

The event presenter will be a Mexican importer of Canadian food and beverage products. The webinar will focus on Mexican consumer eating habits and trends, best practices (dos and don’ts) in doing business with Mexico, and how to build your cost to remain competitive in the market.

“Mexico is of particular interest due to an increased demand for high-quality value-added products by a growing middle and upper class, and the transformation of the Mexican market’ structure due to the proliferation of modern supermarkets, and an increasing number of high-end tourists resorts and restaurants is resulting in Mexican importers diversifying from traditional supply sources,” says Paola Zaragoza, trade development officer, ARD, Edmonton.

“If you are experienced in exporting to the U.S., then Mexico could be the next natural choice of export market. It is included in NAFTA and most Canadian food products have duty free access, and it can be serviced by land transport. There are numerous opportunities in Mexico for consumer-oriented, value-added foods, for both private label and branded products.”
