"Compostability simplifies disposal process for producers"

In 2019, TVU Garnvertrieb GmbH, based in Leutershausen, laid the foundation for further compostable products in the field of greenhouse and tunnel cultivation with the CompoPac cellulose net, thus providing a sustainable packaging solution for fruit and vegetable cultivation. The development of the cellulose trellis aids emerged from intensive discussions with producers, who contributed their expertise to the product development.

The trellis aids are made of 100 percent cellulose and offer an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional products. "The strength of the cords is adapted to the needs
of various plant cultures, which means they can optimally support both light and heavy plants. A major advantage is the compostability of the cords along with the plant residues, simplifying the disposal process for producers and saving costs," Dominik Gedon of Compopac reports.

TVU, with its internal production and expertise in yarn manufacturing, as well as its extensive testing laboratory, can offer high-quality products with short delivery times. Gedon: "An important aspect is also the company's service orientation, characterized by flexibility and direct customer contact. The products can be customized to meet the needs of customers, whether in the form of trellis cords on a roll or already wound on hooks."

Addressing current challenges
For over 20 years, TVU has valued renewable energies and sustainability, as evidenced by electricity generation through its own photovoltaic system and a wood chip heating system. "These measures ensure a stable availability of products and contribute to addressing current challenges," Gedon concludes.

The cellulose trellis cords are 100 percent compostable as well as customizable and available with hooks or just on a spool.
